So according to The Sunday Mirror, England manager Sven Goran Eriksson is wanted by Manchester United chairman Malcolm Glazer.
We had a similar story two years ago with Roman Abramovich trying to get him for Chelsea. Back then Sven was well liked by both the fans and The FA. How things have changed, I think if Mr. Glazer asked The FA if they could take Sven to Old Trafford they would bite his arm off. All English football fans would rejoice, apart from Manchester United supporters that is! :o)
On the topic of England managers I watched the first episode of the comedy series Mike Bassett, a spin off from the very funny 2001 movie. TV spin offs of films are normally terrible disasters so I was not expecting too much from this one, I was however pleasantly surprised, The series, like the film was very amusing and was packed full of silly, footy related humour.
It is set a few years on from the film, Bassett was sacked by England after failing to qualify for Euro 2004 “Everyone knows there’s no easy games at international level and Lichtenstein are no exception to that”. After many other jobs, including Newcastle United, who he relegated twice he is appointed by his childhood team Wirral County.
Overall, very funny and very, very silly. Looking forward to next weeks episode.
Won’t mention the Leeds game too much. A 0-0 draw with Watford. OK, Watford are doing well but by all accounts it was a dire game! Blackwell out.
