I made the grave mistake of forgetting to close my bedroom window this morning. This meant my flat was exposed to the elements all day and evening… the elements and the creatures of the garden.
My fears were confirmed when I noticed a giant beast of a spider sitting happily on my bedroom wall. It must have found its way in during the day.
Now don’t judge me – I am not normally cruel to animals and if my phobia of spiders was not as great as it is, I would have happily caught the creature in a pint glass (anything less would have been far too small) and put it to outside. However, I am not Steve Irwin and I hate creepy crawlies – especially 8 legged ones.
I had to kill it with that dodgy spray I have. The trouble was, after spraying the beast, it ran towards my bed. The last thing I wanted was to have it running all over my pillows and duvet! I managed to bravely block its path and force it to run onto the floor. It was a valiant effort on my part.
The spider has now run under by bed. Hopefully it is now dead. If it is alive, I am sure it will come and seek revenge upon me in the small hours.
After the great battle, I rang Claire (who is in Walsall) in a state of panic – she must have thought my flat had been invaded by serial killers. Luckily she sympathised with my fears – after all, she’s scared of wasps and bees. Unlike Claire, I don’t mind flying insects; but if spiders were to ever grow wings and stingers, Claire and me would both be forced to live in a constant state of fear.

Most of the stories I post on my blog are about me, which, unsurprisingly, is why the website is called Sean's Stories.
In a change to the norm, today I'll be telling a tale from my mum - mainly because it is as funny as it is horrific.
A few weeks ago, my mum woke up to...
- Roman’s Pet Spider
It is said that people learn fears. I didn't believe that it was possible to catch fears, although it appears you can!
Anyone who knows me well or has read this blog for any length of time, will know that I suffer from a phobia of spiders.
I don't know when this fear began. It was certainly...
- Snug As A Bug
People say that you should never tempt fate, and this is something that I may have inadvertently done, in writing Wednesday's blog, about the girl with the spider hoody.
Yesterday afternoon, I was lying in bed, following an enjoyable few hours spent downstairs with Claire and Roman.
Back in bed, my feet were getting hot, so Claire...
- The Hangover From Hell
In today's blog, I am going to tell you of one of the most horrific and frightening stories, I have ever had the displeasure of reading.
No, it isn't Boris Johnson's 2020 Manifesto. Although that is terrifying, this tale is far scarier!
Take a look at the photo below. What do you see? A woman in a...
- I’ve Had Better Days: Part 2
The clocks have now gone back, I had a good night's sleep and have now settled down to blog the second installment of my Friday Frights, while Claire watches Liverpool play Spurs.
Where did we finish off last night? Oh yes, I had cleaned Neil Warnock and nursed him back to full, loud health. No idea...
