I turned on the news this morning to hear about the explosion at a fuel depot in Hemel Hempstead. Luckily nobody was killed and casualties were kept to a minimum.
I was up to see the news story progress from early morning, at which point there were worries of terrorism. It seems that nowadays this is the day we live in. Are we always going to worry about Osma Bin Liner every time some major incident takes place?
As the morning went on it thankfully emerged that the whole thing was an accident. The police officer in charge of the incident was urging people to stay calm and not panic buy petrol. Obviously not everyone took note of this advice as stock piling has been taking place.
The panic buying reminded me of this funny clip from The Simpsons where news anchor man Kent Brockman is reporting a story about a mass exodus of Springfield residents. Thankfully the British news reporters are a little more diplomatic than the US ones.
