The one thing I dislike more in football than glory hunting Manchester United and Chelsea fans is English football supporters who, during an international tournament involving their own native country, wear a shirt of an opposition nation such as Spain or Brazil.
I understand John Terry and Ashley Cole are not the most likable characters. Therefore, I can kind of see why people from England may not want to support their home nation. In that case, don’t be a glory supporting moron and wear the shirt of the tournament favourite – buy a North Korea kit if you must be so unpatriotic!
You just know, should England get within sniffing distance of the semi finals, the Brazil shirts would be confined to the cupboard for four years, with their wearers going straight to JJB to buy the latest full England kit – boots, shorts and all, hanging the flag of St. George from every corner of their houses.
What is the point of this rant? Well, everyone’s favourite ‘tournament favourite’, Spain lost today to SWITZERLAND. Hahahahaha… so funny! My sources at Asda tell me they’re totally sold out of cheese and Switzerland football shirts.
Get real. Get English. Buy yourself an England shirt, a pie and a pint and wait for the inevitable exit in a penalty shootout. It may not win you trophies, but it’s honest.
Goodnight!
