This morning, I noticed this on my Twitter feed…
When it was announced that this was to be the new Leeds United Crest and wasn’t a badge designed by a five year old fan, using Microsoft Paint, I was beyond bemused.
It turns out that 10,000 people were consulted on this design, over 6 months, and therefore it must be good. Incidentally, 50,000 Leeds fans signed an online petition, in a matter of hours, to get the crest banned.
Luckily, it looks like Leeds United have seen the (obvious) error of their ways and have stated that they will reconsider the design… basically it’s dead.
The whole thing seems totally bizarre to me. I am sure that this was a genuine PR disaster, and not a ploy by the club, to distract fans from the fact that the club are yet to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Twitter was amazing at bringing down the monstrosity. Here are just four of my favourite tweets…
The plan that could not fail – to win the lottery – somehow failed. Our work syndicate did not win. I am told some greedy woman scooped the jackpot for herself. Bitch.
