This heatwave is getting beyond the joke. Whoever decided to turn Bath into Baghdad needs to realise that enough is enough; and despite the fact we moan about having crap summers, us Brits secretly love nothing more than an overcast July afternoon, 17 degrees Celsius, with a bit of light drizzle.
Both Claire and myself have been surviving primarily on Callipo ice lollies this weekend. Even Roman the rabbit has been eating ice cubes!
Well, well, well… I believe I have to doff my cap to the England national football team.
They have finally surprised and very much impressed me, reaching the semi final of the World Cup, this afternoon. A pretty amazing feat by manager, Gareth Southgate, who has built a young and hungry team – certainly the best I’ve seen since becoming a football fan.
The team’s success is all the more impressive, if you compare this year’s players with the ‘superstars’ of Lampard, Rooney, Beckham, Terry, Ferdinand, etc – it’s almost as if, in the past, players were picked for England based upon reputation, rather than if they’re any good!
Finally, apologises to Roman, our pet rabbit, who got a little alarmed when Claire and I celebrated the first goal. Personally, I think he was just being bitter because his team didn’t qualify for the World Cup. Before you ask, Roman supports Holland – he’s a NETHERLANDS Dwarf Rabbit.
This is now my second full day home from hospital. While the staff were fantastic, I am thrilled to be home and don’t miss the place one bit!
I have a long road to recovery – something I need to keep reminding myself, when I struggle to undertake basic household duties, like repairing the roof or digging a pond in the back garden. Seriously, while my breathing is finally under control, my leg is bloody agony at times! However, being at home is far better for me than in hospital, where I was bedbound. Back home, I get out of bed and spend the day down stairs, primarily watching TV and going on the internet… no different to before I was admitted to hospital!
The food is much better than in hospital too. I won’t criticise the quality of the cuisine too much, except to say that it won’t have a touch on my meal tonight… Nandos! Well, I’m back home – it would be rude not to.
The past 24 hours has seen #ItsComingHome become one of the top trends on Twitter.
While it’s appreciated, it’s unnecessary for so many people to celebrate my return home from hospital.
