With a week into the football season, it’s been a rather mixed start for me. Last Saturday saw Bath City concede 4 goals in 17 minutes, before coming back with a further 3 themselves, yet still lose. Recent games have proven more successful, yet far less entertaining – a 1-0 win on Tuesday, followed by a 2-1 victory against Welling yesterday. My other team, Leeds, have won their opening 3 games, but sadly have not boasted some of the high-end score lines achieved some of their rivals.
Still, it was nice to see City and Leeds both with victories in the same afternoon yesterday (a rare feat last season). Unfortunately, Somerset couldn’t make it a hat trick of wins for my teams – losing the Twenty20 final. Oh well.
After the game Saturday, I stayed behind at Twerton Park to help the ground staff and fellow fans prepare for the Bath City FC Supporters Club 5-A-Side Tournament, which takes place today. This involved removing the goal netting from the grass, before marking new lines on the pitch, which will be used to split the field into 4 small football pitches – complete with mini goals.
I will not be attending the tournament this afternoon as I have other plans; all of which will be revealed in an upcoming blog – the excitement and anticipation, I am sure, is unbearable.
